This course covers important issues in the history of South and Southeast Asia. It examines aspects of the social, political, and cultural history of South Asia, Maritime and Mainland Southeast Asia, and connections across the Indo-Pacific region, from antiquity to the 21st century. Topics may include trade and migration, religious and cultural developments, state formation, gender and sexuality, social class, outlaw studies, colonization, independence struggles, and post-colonial societies.
