Description
Designed to prepare the student for Physical Therapist practice in the acute care setting via integration of previous didactic coursework. Emphasis is placed on the medical conditions encountered, clinical decision making in regard to mobilization of the acute care patient, the management of lines and tubes encountered in the acute hospital and understanding the role of the Physical Therapist in triage of the patient for discharge planning. The pedagogic approach of the course will include didactic lecture, case study, and laboratory skills, with an emphasis on problem-oriented learning in an effort to encourage active student participation and clinical decision making.
